At Pathways Therapy we understand the special needs of kids! Our many years of experience in paediatric Physiotherapy, Speech Language Therapy are supported by our commitment to work with children in the most suitable environment. We treat children in their homes, in schools, the community and in our own clinic.
We built our sensory gym with kids in mind!
We work with children who experience:
- Developmental delays
- Language Delays
- Articulation Concerns
- Cerebral Palsy
- Sensory Processing Disorders
- Fine motor issues/Poor or messy printing
- Learning Disabilities including visual perceptual issues and binocular vision issues
- Brain injuries
- Anxiety or rigid thinking
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
- Children with behavioural concerns or disorders
- Children without diagnoses for whom parents would like developmental feedback and ideas
We have a family-centered approach and believe strongly in education of the family, not only regarding a home program to follow but also regarding the philosophy of treatment. We strive to involve parents and other caregivers in treatment and tailor the treatment program to the individual child’s needs and wants.
We believe strongly in the input of other members of your child’s team. That includes parents first, but also can include school and other professionals, such as in an intensive behavioural program. That is why we have expanded to offer 3 disciplines under one roof (Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy). Having us in the same facility makes it easy for us to share our thoughts, goals and the tricks we have found that work well for your child. It also makes your child’s experience of meeting a new professional familiar and comfortable.
In addition to treating children at our clinic in Waterloo we also provide services in their homes and in other settings such as school, the hospital, or a community pool.
Our Phyiotherapy approach when treating children with neurological problems is based on the Bobath or Neurodevelopmental Treatment Approach (NDT). This approach focuses on promoting normal movement and encouraging development through the normal developmental milestones.
